What is an Activist Investor?

What exactly is an activist? Activism can be defined as a broad category that describes a wide variety of political activities and endeavors. Activists can be defined as those who speak out for social change on a wide scale - sometimes advocating against existing policies and other times working within the confines of established policies to bring about change. Activists go beyond calling for change from within their own personal communities. agency go beyond engaging in small-scale acts of civil disobedience or advocating for better government policy. Instead, they go beyond the call of duty to work on issues that affect them personally. Some may become environmentalists by practicing organic gardening or recycling. Others may become politically active and engage in grass-roots efforts such as voting or signing up for voting clubs. Activists differ in their degrees of involvement and their degrees of privilege. For instance, some activists may identify as a team, which is someone who has access to a particular kind of privilege (for example, she or he may have been born to parents who are members of the elite Taekwondo order). Other activists may identify as a cattleman, which means they farm animals; a punk, which means they perform underground anti-corporate or anti-Zionist actions; or a punk rocker, which means they perform politically radical music. An activist may also identify as a test, which means a South Asian immigrant, gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered person. A transgender, agoraphobia, hoarding, compulsive hoarder, sexist, cisnormative sexist, racist, terrorist, or anti-Christian could also fall into this category. This shows how our definitions of what is an activist can vary based on our location and ethnicity. What is an Activist? agency who participates in political action for social change. Activists do not usually engage in physical violence, however there are individuals who are known to have attacked property because of their beliefs. Non-violent activists include civil rights advocates, eco-terrorists, animal rights activists, and the anti-war and to terrorist groups. All these groups claim to be motivated by an interest in social justice, yet no group can claim to be perfect. An activist is also considered a social justice warrior. Social justice warriors are normally associated with specific causes such as animal rights, social media privacy, immigration issues, free speech issues, internet freedom, racial issues, and gender issues. In some cases, activists may engage in extreme forms of action such as trespassing or physical assault. Sometimes, people who participate in nonviolent activism also engage in publicity stunts like holding funerals for mutilated bodies, creating videos with messages about political issues, setting up camps to occupy natural resources, or traveling to other parts of the world to spread awareness about environmental issues. Why Should You Care About What is an Activist? Activist investing is extremely important for two main reasons. First of all, it helps you make sense of the often complicated world of public company finances. As a matter of fact, a lot of good independent thinkers feel that the majority of corporate executives are actually just glorified stockholders, acting as money managers for the public companies. Therefore, it is much more important that shareholders come into play as citizens as well, rather than just as shareholders. Second of all, if we are to continue to protect the rights of average folks, we must be willing to take action ourselves by getting actively involved in the financial markets. The stock market is far from ideal, and many of us do not have the spare cash needed to participate in regular stock market investing. However, if we take a collective approach and start buying stocks on a regular basis, then a significant portion of the institutional investors have no choice but to turn to small-dollar penny stocks as an alternative. This forces small investors to become increasingly aware of the need for citizen engagement. I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.
