Four Tips to Reduce Your Electric Consumption

Here I will give you four tips on how to reduce your electricity consumption in your home and thus save on your power bill.

It’s time for a quick shower.

Every one love to enjoy a relaxing hot bath with sea salt and foam in the tub. I know it would be difficult to change that but if you want to reduce your electricity consumption you will need to decrease the frequency of using your tub. You can enjoy a hot bath in your weekend and the rest of the week you can just enjoy a quick shower. That will decrease the amount of energy drawn by your water heater and reduce your power bill considerably and save you on water bill as well.

Wash your clothes only when your bucket is full.

Your washing machine is another gadget which also consumes considerable amount of power. You would better plan for your wash instead of firing up your washing machine with quarter or half load. It's much better to turn on your washing machine only when your bucket is full of clothes and that will reduce your electric consumption because you only use it when you need it. If you have a dryer I advise you to use a cloth line instead, a dryer depend on generating high temperature to dry your clothes but that will not help us because any appliance which has a heating coil is a power drain.

Close your blinds.
Rooms get hotter without shades or curtains to block the sunlight. Buying a set of nice curtains will not only make your home looks better but also will reduce your electricity consumption because your AC will not be forced to work for longer periods of time.

Mind the gaps.
If your house has an old door, unfixed window or a broken one I urge you to go and get a new one or fix it immediately. No doubt that leaving gaps in your home will leak the cooled air inside your home and again you'll have to leave your AC working to replace the escaping cool air. A 20m2 room needs 1.5 horse power AC to generate enough cooling but if you have many appliances which release heat and gaps which leak air you will be faced with the fact that you need to replace your AC with a higher horse power and that is the last thing you need to consider if you want to reduce your electricity consumption.
