So you've decided to redecorate your small vintage study room. You know, the one that you have mostly used for napping in front of the TV for years. Well you're not alone. These rooms just make great sitting areas and when decorated properly can be quite comfortable. In this article I'm going to give you a few tips for redecorating it to look more like a cozy study area. Even if it only has two couches and a desk Start out by removing any items that may clog up the space. Things like old magazines, mugs, old books, or even clothing clings can take away from the look of the room. Take these things out of the room and store them in a nearby cabinet that is suitable. It would also be a good idea to get rid of the clutter so that you can better see what you have next to you. After check here have sorted out the clutter, you should then take stock and decide where you want the couch cushions to go. A great place to put these cushions would be on the far ends of each couch. Make sure that you also have enough sofa space to move around freely. Once you have determined where the sofa will go it's time to think about other furniture that can be added to the room. You'll want to find some place to put the coffee table or side tables. Remember to leave enough room so that you can easily move the furniture around. After everything is setup, you can now start decorating your study area. I usually go with a rustic look with wood furniture and earth tones. One way to achieve this is to paint the walls a light khaki color. Another great way to add a little pizzazz is to add a little leather to the seats. Leather is a great way to give a little zing to your room. After you have painted the walls and picked up some interesting accessories you need to decide on a few finishing touches. You should put up a nice decorative rug for your floor. This rug doesn't even have to be a leather one, it can be made of any type of fabric. It doesn't even have to match the rest of the furniture, in fact, you should pick a different rug every year or so. You can also use rugs on the chairs, although I wouldn't recommend having too many of them. Now it is time to arrange your small furniture in the study area. You should try to keep it all together, although some things should be separated from one another. It is a good idea to have a small lamp or two on each side of the table, or even an electronic lamp, this will really add to the look. If you are going to put a tablecloth up there are a few things that you should put into consideration. First off you shouldn't put a floral pattern on the table, this will look odd. It would look better to put something like a geometric pattern or a checkerboard design. You can also get ones that come in a variety of colors, it shouldn't matter what color the rest of the room is. Putting one on top of the table would be a great finish. Finally, you should think about the lighting. I would highly recommend getting some small vintage lighting. They are not usually that expensive, especially if you are looking for something that will look aged. Just remember to keep them in a dark room and don't leave them in direct sunlight, it wouldn't look very good at all. With just these few tips you should be able to create a small vintage look in your room easily.
