New Year, New You

It is the stereotypical New Year’s resolution—get fit and healthy. But just because it is stereotypical doesn’t mean that it is somehow not worthwhile. What could be more important than your health and happiness?

A lot of the stigma attached to this particular resolution has to do with the fact that most people who make it never reach their goal. The gym fills up with new members in January, and by April the numbers dwindle. By June, the gym population is back to normal.

Why does this happen? And is it guaranteed to happen to you?

As for the first question, it happens for many different reasons, though the main variable at play tends to be motivation. The gym seems different and exciting at first; you walk in tired and walk out exhausted, yet somehow more energetic. You get to use your body in ways you didn’t realize you could and you start to finally understand its strength.

But a month or two in, the actual workouts start to get boring. Eventually, the dullness of the repetition cancels out the energy you feel and the results you see. Then you start to skip workouts. Then you quit going all together.

Now for the second question: Is it guaranteed to happen to you? Not at all. The key difference between you and the workout dropouts is maintaining your motivation. To do that, we recommend barre classes on the Upper West Side with Physique 57.

What does their barre studio on the Upper West Side offer that the typical gym doesn’t? There are a few key factors.

1.Their classes are led by incredible instructors. In your typical gym, you are going it alone. It is all on you to navigate the machines and try to figure out which ones work for you and deliver the results you want. It is easy to stick to the first machines you master and then get stuck in a rut.

2.Their barre classes on the Upper West Side are all about growth. Even those who have been practicing with Physique 57 for years are constantly finding ways to grow in their practice and improve themselves and their bodies.

3.The classes are never the same. This Upper West Side barre studio prides itself on never offering the exact same class repeatedly. The routines are always changing and the soundtrack is changed at least once a month, making everything feel new.

4.Finally, the results come fast. You will feel the difference in yourself from the very first session and see the difference as early as class eight. Being able to see results so quickly makes a big difference in your motivation.

So don’t waste time; get started with the workout that will change the way you see fitness and help shape the new you in the new year.
