A practice during which one can prevent infection in the reproductive and urinary tract is menstrual hygiene.

Some of the healthy menstrual practices include:

Change pad frequently- one needs to know that changing pads or tampons in at least 4-6 hours is the thumb rule to establish vaginal hygiene. It is because when menstrual blood tends to be released, it tends to attract a plethora of organisms that multiply in the warmth of the blood, and of course, lead to irritation, rashes, or urinary tract infections. Hence women should follow the menstrual cycle without a doubt and use extra-long sanitary napkins.

Wash the intimate area ideally- One needs to wash their vagina regularly. It is imperative, as the organisms cling to their body after they have removed their sanitary napkin. Post cleaning women can also use the hand wash liquid soap.

Don’t overuse any product – be it hand washes liquid soap or any other, you should avoid overusing it as anything used in excess does more harm than good.  Above all, one should know that vaginas tend to have their cleaning mechanism indeed comes to play during menstrual cycles. Some of the artificial hygiene products tend to hamper the natural process leading to infections, and bacteria growth tends to be inevitable.

Discard the sanitary napkins ideally- one needs to wrap the pads properly before they throw them away, as the aim is to prevent the bacteria and infections from spreading. In addition, they need to ensure that they don't flush them, as it tends to block the toilet causing the water to back up, spreading the bacteria all over it.

Above all, one needs to stick to a perfect sanitation method and wash their hands ideally.
