Using Anaglypta wallpaper in the right way

We have already had a bit of idea about the type of paste that will suit you for the job in hand and the paste used. We will help you to know how you can prepare your wall for Anaglypta wallpaper.

Preparing the surface

There is a decent finish that is used on the walls for the time that is spent in preparing the wall surface. A low surface should be smoother and free from dust and grease or the job that will end in a disaster irrespective of the papering technique used. A bit of preparation is required only for the plasterboard with the oil-sealed skimmed joints that demands the same. You should always allow this when you plan the job here, both new plaster and previously painted walls that need plenty.

New plaster

It is for at least six months before papering it; you need to leave the new plaster to dry out thoroughly. You will only have to do it all again when the damp starts coming through, as you need to paper it quite soon. You also have to fill every blemish on the surface to rub down with sandpaper in the meantime. If you do this a layer at a time, the outcome would be quite rewarding if you do this in stages.

To provide a key for the paste and stop the walls from absorbing too much water too often, new plaster might also be sized before the papering is done.

Papered surfaces

The paste may soften them and cause the peel to come off later on, as you should never paper over the existing wall covering. It will help if you start by scoring the surface with the wire brush or a nail to strip the ordinary paper.

You then have to scrape off the wet paper using a wide blade stripping knife starting from the bottom. You should also not be damaging the plaster that lies underneath. Any roughness left on the surface should be smoothened with the use of the sandpaper that needs to be washed down the wall as you need to allow it to dry before pasting it.

You may be able to get away with just peeling of the surface layer and papering onto the paper backing left on the wall if the walls are prepared with vinyl. Before you are getting this done, you need to make sure that the support is firmly stuck as you are stripping it in a usual way.

Painted surfaces: You need to sand the patches smoothly as you scrape off any flaking emulsion or gloss paint. You can also remove the traces of grease and oil stains by washing them.
