The Bookworm and her High School Reunion by Snack Shack Drive Thru

Book reading is a wonderful therapy. It’s a cure for a sad, lonely, and grieving heart. It can also be a time for daydreaming, adventures, or a friend to rely on to fill you joy and laughter. There are so many things to love about reading books. They can take you days, weeks even months. If you’re following and reading a series, it may take years’ worth of patience and following. An example is the Harry Potter series. It took 16 years and 7 months for J.K. Rowling wrote all 7 books about the boy who lived. It also took all the avid readers and fans that long to wait for their release.

I read books to enjoy the vision of different authors. The love, the tragedy, the sorrow, and the lesson each book has silently impacts the world we know. It contributes to the knowledge, art, and history of mankind.

People called and treated me badly, back when I was still in high school since I always had a book in my hand. Those days were behind me though. I am a successful and proud owner of my own publishing company. I even published and authored a book about the wonders of life and how a book can make a big difference. We also sell and offer beautiful stationery.

I was minding my own world, when an email invite for our high school reunion came to my inbox. On top of that, I was asked to speak as one of the successful alumni of the school. Flashes of all the bullying, teasing I got from being a bookworm all came flooding back. At this point of my life, I realized that I have worked and proved to everyone, including myself, that I have become the best version of myself. I decided to accept the invite and go back home for our ten-year reunion.

The party took place at a beach location. It was perfect, it was amazing. Snack Shack Drive Thru is the home of exotic sodas fort lauderdale fl proudly brags about. The beach party was filled with the best exotic snacks, exotic candy and soda. There were so many kinds of exotic pop to choose from. It was like returning to my younger years where exotic soft drinks were the thirst quencher of the cool kids.  There were also cream cheese cookies and chocolate chip cookies that were so good that I almost forgot that I planned to keep away from any sweets before starting my speech.

Our batch principal walked the stage and started to poke jokes at the first couple of minutes. He then continued by expressing his pride of how our batch was filled with so many achievers, dreamers who seem to have succeeded in life and in career. Before ending his speech, he introduced me as the next speaker.

I walked to the microphone and gave my most honest and confident look. I looked around and saw many faces. People who used to laugh and mock me. But it was different they all had excited and happy faces looking at me. I started expressing how I was teased for falling in love with a book. I made sure that everyone knew that I did not hold a grudge or that I seek vengeance. I thanked everyone. I may have been alone physically, but reading books helped me cope, adapt and grow as a person. I was never truly alone. I was always under the care of the greatest minds who authored classics. It helped me become the successful person I am today. Books taught me that there is no sense in holding a grudge. That a good and understanding person must know when to be the bigger person and when to take the high road. I thanked and wished everyone a wonderful life and career and ended my speech.

The moment I got off the stage, most of my high school peers came to me. The students who were mean, apologized. They told me that after becoming parents, and even right after starting college, they realized that no one should feel bad for reading books. The students who did not tease me but also watched and did nothing during the days I was being bullied also sought forgiveness. They too were just afraid of the treatment they might receive. But they expressed how proud they were that I was brave enough to show and prove to everyone that if you really love what you do, you don’t need to feel ashamed of what other people might think.

I went back to LA with a lot of exotic drinks and snacks packed in my suitcase with a very satisfied thought. I’m happy I went, and I am happy that everything worked out.
