Formulation of the problem

The problem with most students that contributes to their poor performance on tests and exams is the lack of proper reading skills. For excellent performance, there is a need for the student to form good reading and learning habits. The study found that 62.5% of respondents recognize the importance of reading and said reading helps them express themselves better. Based on the results of the study, the following recommendations are:

In addition, it is recommended that, of course, as communication skills should be compulsory for all first year students to read at least two novels or fiction in each semester and, uncountable courses for all levels 200 and 300 students during the semester, but students must complete that course before he or she can graduate. It will go a long way to instill reading habits in students.

This is becoming a very serious problem in many academic institutions, students tend to depend on abstracts, and made library visits for information. As a result, management of educational institutions should warn faculty members to prepare only handouts for students, and they will supplement it with further research in the library.

Today there are many municipal libraries where children can be encouraged to walk and read novels and fiction. When done, it will help them express themselves well and write good English, which will ultimately lead to better academic performance in the near future.
