Food transporters help transport food from production units to consumption locations. As a result, all  transport  operators are required to obtain an FSSAI license, even if they use third-party transport services to transport food from one facility to another. This article provides an in-depth guide to FSSAI licensing for carriers in India.

As per FSSAI What is transport activity?

Transport is the activity of transporting food (packaged and bulk) from one place to another by vehicle/container, including isothermal vans/refrigerated wagons including food trucks, and special vehicles such as oil tankers. Under

Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 (FSSAI Act), you cannot engage in food transport and trade without an FSSAI registration

Why do I need FSSAI registration or FSSAI license for carriers in India?

All transporters involved in the movement of  food from one location to another must obtain an FSSAI license. This is necessary to comply with food safety regulations and  obtain all necessary certifications. To obtain a food transport license, food transporters must comply with strict safety regulations. This not only helps to develop appropriate hygiene standards, but also ensures compliance in the workplace. In addition, only after completing a GAP audit  and implementing standardized shipping levels will the carrier be able to move goods from the manufacturer\'s warehouse or warehouse. This allows FBOs to comply with FSSAI guidelines while maintaining documentation of audit results.

What are the main components of the  FSSAI Carrier License?

Transporters that move food  from one place to another also require an FSSAI license. This license consists of three main parts.

  • Transportation infrastructure including trucks, airports, ships and trains.

  •  Food processing technology and various storage, warehousing and refrigeration standards.

  • Adequate supply and logistics based on demand and various requirements.

The Most Important Advantages of FSSAI Registration

Obtaining a licence can provide legal benefits, foster respect, ensure food safety, increase customer awareness, and help a food business expand commercially. It also helps to regulate the manufacture, storage, distribution, and sale of imported foods. It is straightforward to acquire finance from investors after a Food Transporter is registered with the FSSAI.
