How to Register for GST Online

The GST was introduced in India in 2017, as a substitute for numerous taxes implied over different goods and services. This Goods and Services Tax registration is mandatory for the companies which have a turnover of more than Rs. 20 lakh (10 lakh in some states). You need to fill out the form and make an application for a GST number.

The company is required to pay a fine of 10% of the due tax amount and the minimum value is Rs. 10,000. If the person deliberately evades tax, then the penalty amount will be 100% of the due task.

Steps for GST registration

Provided below are the steps to apply for new GST in India:

  • Visit the GST portal (https://www.gst.gov.in/) and press on register now, under the Taxpayers (Normal) tab.
  • Enter all the details required as mentioned in part A and click on new registration. Click on the taxpayer option from the dropdown box. Select the respective state and district. Write your name, email, PAN details and contact number for your business. An OTP will be sent on the mobile number and email. Now press the proceed button.
  • Now enter the OTP you receive on the space given for OTP and click on continue.
  • A TRN (Temporary Reference Number) is generated on your mobile and email.
  • Now re-open the GST portal and click on the Temporary Reference Number option. Note the TRN and captcha, press continue option. You will again receive OTP, write it and press proceed tab.
  • Now, section B opens up, here you have to fill ten sections and submit crucial documents.
  • After filling in the details, select the declaration box. Submit your DSC along with the GST application.
  • After the submission of the form, a success message will be displayed and an ARN is sent to mobile and email id.
