Each item is linked to an achievement for logging in during the time period, one for both the Alliance and the Horde.

It's a nice gesture by Blizzard, as former and current World of Warcraft players are sure to make up a large part of Warcraft's audience. The movie looks to be a labor of love for Duncan Jones, who has helped to ensure that many of the film's locations and characters are faithful to that of the video game.

Keep in mind that the free transmog items aren't official just yet. Wowhead merely keeps track of all the changes and updates that are added to Legion's playable alpha build and is simply detailing some of the latest additions.
