Natural stones are durable compared the other materials. Keep your natural stone in elegant condition with these tips from the experts at Stone Universe Inc.

1.    Clean often:  Clean your kitchen surface after every meal preparation, even if it appears clean. Every microparticle could have a detrimental effect on your natural stone. It can break down the protective steal of the natural stones, then you face the costly repair and replacement. Also, use the smooth scrubbing pads for cleaning the natural stone surfaces, otherwise, the hard scrubbing pads leave unsightly scratches on natural stones.  Always used the scrubbing pads designed specifically for natural stone or look for “non-scratch” on the packaging.

2.    Seal frequently: You don’t over-seal natural stone surfaces. Natural stone and the sealing granite countertops surfaces maintain maximum surface protection, penetrating stone surfaces to provide superior, long-lasting resistance to staining, etching, and soil build-up. The protective seal is the main element of natural stone because it prevents harmful substances such as acidic coffee, juice, or wine from staining and etching the surface. If you have no idea whether it’s time to reseal, it’s easy to test. Put the water drops (about 3 inches in diameter) on the surface, and leave it for 30 minutes. If the water drops absorb by the surface, it’s time to reseal. Please check closely for etching and stains, as you’ll want to fix these issues before the applied the sealant.

3.    Polish regularly: polishing natural stones provides the two main benefits. First, it gives the beautiful look, if we polish the surface after the cleaning. Secondly, natural stone steps will provide ongoing protection against water spots and fingerprints. Polished surfaces always give an impressive look to our home.
