Polyferric sulphate comes in two forms: a pale yellow powder (solid) and a deep red liquid. It is acid deficient because all of the free acid is used before the iron polymerizes. Polyferric sulphate is a form of inorganic high polymer flocculating agent. It has a number of advantages, including a high rate of precipitation, a high density of alumen ustum, a high rate of pollutant removal, and a low amount of sewage sludge, making it a significant water treatment utility.

Polyferric sulphate is manufactured commercially for use in industrial and municipal water treatment processes.

It is frequently used for drinking water clarification; as an iron-based coagulant with only a tiny quantity of aluminium, it is particularly successful as a coagulant in the clarification of oily water. It\'s great for removing phosphorus, colour, and suspended solids, as well as regulating turbidity. It is used on a large scale in sludge dewatering operations and the removal of metals like selenium and arsenic.
