Exposure Levels for Boudoir Photography

Posted by Photography Talk on October 7th, 2022

Let's begin with a basic overview. Boudoir photography encompasses a wide variety of styles that we'll go through later. Each style has a distinct level of body exposure. They are broadly defined as modest traditional, classical, and bold.

Modest

Many women would like to take on the boudoir photo shoot. However, something in their minds holds them from doing so. The reason is that they are not able to look naked or dressed in a bare-faced way before the camera.

Boudoir isn't about showing all the details; instead, it's about what is comfortable for you in your zone. It's acceptable for women not to go to the gym in revealing or even lingerie! This is what makes a woman appear and feel sexy, all in the comfort of her clothes--is the thing that defines her individuality. You could wear formal attire that opens an arm with a bare back or shows a small number of your legs. A shirt from your spouse, blazer, nightgown, or any other item uniquely "you."

Classic

This is the standard way to choose Boudoir dresses that are suitable for most women. They don't need models from fitness magazines for models for them to feel confident about their bodies. In the end, they are women. That's enough. Suppose you are looking to conceal areas of your body or trying to strike the perfect equilibrium between being dressed and undressed. In that case, the traditional assortment of clothes will expose your body but not excessively and leave plenty to the viewers' imagination.

Daring

Some clients are bored of the same feel, similar props, identical postures, and similar expressions found in thousands of photographers in boudoirs. They would like their bodies to be more exposed because they want their body to be seen and be able to experience the unimaginable. They would like to break away from the conventional image and be bold, completely naked. So, you can add exposed dresses and artifacts to add beauty and boldness to your Boudoir photography.
