Dr. Michael Dolynchuk is a self-made man who covered that distance, and covered it quite efficiently. Born in Winnipeg, and having decided to become a dentist at the age of five, Michael Dolynchuk moved to Alberta only three days after his graduation from high school at the age 17. “That was in 1979,” said Dolynchuk. “When I was 13, I came to Banff on a family trip and I saw the Rocky Mountains personally and I wowed that in the first chance I could, I would move to Alberta and I never looked back.” “First I took a security job on an oil field in the summer time and my summer time job lasted five years. So I became a driller in the oil field service industry,” he says. “Today I am still drilling (teeth), it’s in my blood,” he adds with a laughter. After making enough money to take him through his education, Dolynchuk says he went back to school in 1987 and first got his Bachelor of Science degree and later graduated from the University of Alberta as a dentist in 1995. Returning to Red Deer after graduation, he says he started his private practice, which grew swiftly. ‘First we expanded to a second office in Red Deer south and then opened a third office in the north.” Michael Dolynchuk is much more than a dentist only: he has a wide range of hobbies from flying to water skiing.
