How to Calculate Your Australia PR Score?

Posted by Nationwide Immigration Services on February 7th, 2024

Have you always dreamt of living in Australia but don’t know how to start the process? The good news is that the Australian government has released its 2023-24 permanent Migration program 2023 and is ready to welcome 190,000 immigrants, a slight reduction from 2022-23.

Skilled workers have a great opportunity to gain the required score in the Australia PR points calculator as 30,375 places are allocated for them under the Skilled Independent Visa category.

How does the Australia PR point calculator work?

The Department of Home Affairs in Australia uses a point-based system to evaluate the profile of skilled migrants for PR. There are different selection factors including age, work experience, language proficiency, education, and more.

To be eligible for Australia skilled visa categories such as Subclass 189 (Skilled Independent), Subclass 190 (Skilled Nominated), and Subclass 491 (Skilled Work Regional), you need to achieve 65 points in the Australia PR points calculator.

You have to remember this while calculating your score – achieving the minimum required points does not guarantee an invitation to apply for a PR visa but only makes you eligible to apply.

65-Point Calculation Method

Each factor in the 65-point calculator for an Australia PR visa has a score assigned to it.

1. Age:

The younger you are, the more points you will get for the PR visa. The maximum age to apply for Australia PR is 44.
