Fixing Your Chipped Car Windshield

What are you supposed to do next? Chandler windshield repair can be easily availed when you know the right number to call. But if you want to do some DIY for now, here’s something you need to know.

First off, you need to be aware that some insurance providers do not cover chipped glass. But before you panic, breathe.

Drive home carefully and get a magnifying glass so you can take a closer look at the chipped windshield. Then you can inject an acrylic adhesive or epoxy into the chip. You can also put some filler.

Even if it is not in your direct line of sight, you can still try to repair it. If you don’t, water can get inside the chip and worsen the problem. When moisture gets deep into the glass, it can delaminate it causing the center membrane to fog and lead to an even bigger blemish.

So naturally, it’s best to have it repaired as soon as possible. If you don’t want to go to a Chandler auto tech, you need to first check if it’s even repairable on your own. If it can be filled, then go for it. At least you will be able to seal the chip and avoid the possibility of it growing even bigger.

If you see a long crack in your windshield, it’s best you see a Chandler auto window repair service. They have the necessary tools and equipment to fix the problem. They can use adhesive injection kits although in some cases they may recommend complete windshield replacement.

Assuming you’re able to fix it on your own, start with a dry windshield. Park your vehicle indoors because you don’t want any moisture on the glass. Peel off the backing film of the adhesive strip and pull the cap off the syringe and let the adhesive creep down toward the chip in your glass window. You’ll need to wait a few hours until the adhesive hardens and then remove any protruding adhesive off the glass.

And that’s all there is to it. Of course, you need to remember that not all cases of chipped windshield are repairable. Hence you need to get professional advice. You may have to have your windshield replaced if necessary to ensure you are safe on the road. Contact a Chandler auto tech if you need further advice or information on how to go about fixing your chipped window.
