Exam Pattern for Common Admission Test

Common Admission Test exam is held every year for admission in top business schools including IIMs. All students in these business schools, makes a rewarding career in corporate world. CAT is top competitive examination attracts graduate student toward a bright career. CAT is also known to be an unpredictable paper and the exam pattern is changes almost each year to surprise the appearing candidates. The cut-off for the IIMs and other top B-schools always crosses 90. All these reason makes CAT a very Tough examination for student. Students must make sure that they obtain the high marks in CAT exam. The exam pattern will be very helpful to for the candidates to be familiar with the ways of attempting the tests. The candidates appearing for CAT must refer to good quality sample papers, mock tests and model test paper. Regular practice of exam pattern wall make familiar with question may be asked in the CAT examination.

Exam pattern for CAT 2016 is given following:

Mode of the CAT 2016 Exam

CAT exam is a computer based test. The candidates have to appear in this exam through the allotted computer systems at the asigned test centres. Last year around 650 test centres were set up by the exam conducting authority to accommodate lakhs of candidates. So, this year, more test centres are expected to be announced for the CAT 2016 candidates.

Time duration of CAT Exam

Duration of the exam time period has been constantly increased from last two years. In the year 2014, time duration of CAT exam was 170 minutes while for CAT 2015 the duration was 180 minutes. The total time of the exam is 180 minutes. The candidates are required to remain in their seats for the entire duration of the test. On the completion of the exam time, the “Submit” button will be enabled. 60 minutes will be provided to attempt each section. But they will not have an option to switch over the sections, which means they will only have 1 hour to complete attempting one section and to revise the same. Even if they will finish attempting one section in say 40-45 minutes still candidates will not have an option to move further to another section.

There is no specific syllabus announced by CAT exam Conducting body IIM but Candidates are advised to prepare for the CAT exam through previous year’s question papers and candidates have to cover all the basic part of Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning.
