Indian Council of Agricultural Research Exam details

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research is an independent organization under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Government of India. It was established on 16 July 1929.  Its Headquarters is in New Delhi.It has played a major role in promoting higher education in agriculture. It is engaged in developing new technologies in science and its scientists are internationally experienced in their fields.

ICAR Exam is an all India entrance exam conducted by Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) It invites application for Bachelor degree programs in agriculture and allied subjects for admission in Agricultural Universities. 15% of the Agricultural Universities seats will be filled in UG 2016 through All India Entrance Exam for Admission (AIEEA). Indian Council of Agricultural Research is categorized in two main streams Stream A (Agricultural/Biology) and Stream B (Mathematics)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
  • Candidate applying to Stream A must have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education or equivalent to the Senior Secondary Examination of an Indian Board/ University after a period of 12 years of study with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Agriculture/Home Science
  • Candidate applying to Stream B should have passed 10+2 examination or equivalent necessarily with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.

Application Process:

  • The candidate need to visit the official website in order to fill the application form
  • The candidate can download the prospectus and then fill his/her form online.
  • Candidates can pay the application fee through Bank Challan/ Debit Card/ Credit Card or Net Banking.

The admit card of the same will be uploaded on the official website of Indian Council of Agricultural Research. Candidates are advised to check the detail such as Name of the candidate, Roll number, Test center address and Timing etc. in admit card.

Exam Pattern:

Exam will be conducted in two streams and student can appear in any one of the two subjects:

  • Stream A- comprising Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture/ Biology
  • Stream B- comprising Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.

The number of question to be asked from each subject is given in the table below:

Physics & Chemistry Exam will be common for both the streams.

National Talent Scholarship offered by Indian Council of Agricultural Research

Indian Council of Agricultural Research also offers Scholarship and Fellowship programs to the candidates. The candidates are offered National Talent Scholarship by Indian Council of Research. This Scholarship is offered to those for undergraduate degree program students not located in domicile state of student. Such candidates will be provided Rs. 1,000 per month for the duration of the program

It is currently reported that ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) is observingSwachhtaPakhwada from October 16, to October 18, 2016. It initiated the SwachhtaPakhwada since the Prime Minister Mr. NarendraModi started Swach Bharat Abhiyan. Indian Council of Agricultural Research has recently inaugurated SwachhtaPakhwada by ShriChhabilendraRoul, Additional Secretary (DARE) at Dehradun on October 16, 2016.
