Understanding Software As A Service

It is quite likely that many of us might have come across the term SaaS but may not know what exactly it is. SaaS is the acronym for Software As A Service. This is basically a distribution model for software solution. In such a solution the onus lies on the third party service provider to host application. Once the application is hosted the same is made available to customers with the help of the internet. There are three main methods and variants of cloud computing and SaaS is one of them. The other two are IaaS and PaaS. These are acronyms for Infrastructure as a service and platform as a service.

Why People Go In For SaaS

There are many advantages and benefits because of which comes the end users’ way when they choose SaaS. First and foremost it saves cost and the need for special human resources. Small and medium organizations in particular stand to gain a lot because it does away with the need for installing and running applications on their own systems and even data centers. This is because the entire application is available for a price in a cloud environment.

Cos Effective And Efficient

In today’s highly competitive world where cost of production is going up continuously, going in for the right SaaS option could help a lot in saving cost. It allows organizations to do away with the cost of provisioning, maintenance, acquisition and also other costs such as software licensing, support and installation. However, there could be many such software solutions needed. Hence the onus lies on the customers to manage SaaS subscription effectively. This is because different SaaS solutions come with different prices tags and validity periods. There must be a single platform where these can be managed and going in for suitable subscription management tool would be a great idea.

Flexible Payment Options

One more reason why it makes sense to go in for SaaS is because many of the service providers offer flexible payment. Instead of spending thousands of dollars in buying installing and additional hardware to support the running of an organization, a better option would be to go in for such tailor made and third party offering. The customers would be required to pay only for the services which they use and on a periodical basis. It is usually done on a monthly basis and therefore customers can choose the package which they think suits their specific needs and requirements.
