Naincyber Uses Behavioral Profiling of Network, Users and Endpoints to Detect

Posted by John on January 14th, 2017

Naincyber, a leading provider of Behavioral Attack Detection solutions, today announced that it has been named as a Representative Vendor in two Gartner IT security detection and response oriented Market Guides: Market Guide for User and Entity Behavior Analytics and Market Guide for Endpoint Detection and Response Solutions. The Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) guide (G00274158) was published December 16, 2015, and the User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) guide (G00276088) was published on September 22, 2015.

Naincyber uniquely combines network deep packet inspection, agentless endpointinterrogation, and user context into a single integrated detection domain to pinpoint active attackers on a network – an architectural approach specifically referenced in each of the market guides.

In the EDR market report, Research VP Peter Firstbrook and VP Distinguished Analyst Neil MacDonald wrote, “The most critical EDR capability is the ability to detect sophisticated hidden threats. The range of detection techniques will be also affected by the type of data gathered. Three realms of data are most valuable: user, endpoint and network events. This data also needs to be put into context with global threat intelligence (that is, attribution and trends). Generally speaking, more information and more context is better than less, assuming it can scale across infrastructure and information management.”

In the UEBA market report, “Favor UEBA vendors who profile multiple entities including users and their peer groups, and devices, and who use machine learning to detect anomalies. These features enable more accurate detection of malicious or abusive users,” wrote AvivahLitan, Gartner Vice President and Distinguished Analyst, in the report.

“Detecting an attacker on a network is paramount for all security analysts that face the increasing likelihood that their threat prevention infrastructure can and will be circumvented by sophisticated attackers,” said Anita Shelf, executive vice president, Naincyber. “To detect an active attacker most efficiently requires full visibility of network traffic, endpoint activity and user accounts to determine malicious behavioral anomalies. The Naincyber combines all three into a single detection domain and uses automated machine learning for speed, precision and perspective to solve the data breach crisis. We are heartened by Gartner’s market leadership in identifying the evolving needs in the IT security detection and response realm covered in these new market reports.”
