Planning a Wonderful Ireland Trip

Posted by alvina on March 29th, 2017

Lush green valleys, cloud covered skies, and the lull of an Irish brogue are all reasons why an Ireland trip is at the top of almost everyone’s vacation list. Ireland is considered part of the British Isles and the country itself is divided into two sections, the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Connemara is on the Western Coast of Ireland, just a few hours from Dublin. The countryside in Connemara is filled with valleys, black lakes that shimmer and glow in the moonlight, and bogs that have been around for centuries. Aughnanure Castle was built back in 1500 and people can now walk around and see the ruins of the castle itself as well as the banqueting hall and the old watchtower. Near the castle is Brigit’s Garden, which is four and half hectares and the most tranquil spot in the county. Visitors are encouraged to try to guess the time by using the large sundial on the garden grounds.

While adventurists might not be up to the task of conquering the big waves in Mullaghmore, everyone will spot a brave surfer or two out on the water who are experts with the waves in this area. A slightly less dangerous adventure is tackling the Mayo Greenway by bicycle. This path is forty-two kilometers long and people who decide to ride the trail fall in love with all of the small villages and mountain views that they see along the way.

There are multiple Irish Music Festivals held throughout the year in Ireland and each one is filled with amazing music and the locals favorite drink, beer. Families, friends, couples, singles, basically everyone is invited to the festivals for a day or more of fun and dancing to Irish music. There are also other festivals during the year including the Cape Clear Storytelling Festival where a small community of storytellers retell the stories that have been passed down from generation to generation.

For more than 1,500 years, people have been following the pilgrimage tradition of climbing Croagh Patrick, Ireland’s Holy Mountain. The views from the top are magnificent at any time of the year, but people should be careful if they decide to attempt it on the last Sunday of July. That is the day when the mountain will see at least 20,000 people attempting the climb.

Beer is synonymous with Ireland and the city of Dublin is where visitors will find the Guinness Storehouse. Inside the building, a giant-sized pint glass greets guests before they begin their tour of the seven-story building. While the history and process of the beer making is phenomenal, most people cannot wait until the end when they can enjoy a glass while viewing the city from the top floor.

An Ireland trip is at the top of everyone’s bucket list, although the reason for every individual is probably completely different. Some people may want real Guinness beer, while others will want to see the sights and hear the sounds of Ireland’s countryside. No matter the reason, everyone will enjoy their Ireland trip immensely, and they will continue to talk about all of their adventures for years in the future.
