The Trending Solutions in Cosmetic Surgery for 2017

Posted by Mr. Sultan Hassan on April 17th, 2017

The cosmetic surgery trend for 2017 is ‘subtlety.’ Now more than ever, less is more. Not only does this mean smaller stomachs as expected—it also means smaller breast enhancement and nipple sizes. More women are requesting smaller implant sizes, going from the typical E cup down to a D or C cup. Statistics indicate that 95% of women who want to undergo breast enhancement surgery are now going for a more natural look, inspired by celebrities who sport athletic and toned physiques such as Kendall Jenner or Taylor Swift. There was also a significant rise (30% to be exact) in the number of women requesting reduced nipple sizes. A quick look at Instagram feeds of celebrities, models and social media personalities confirms this trend; you will notice that there are less posts flaunting cleavages and more posts about fitness.

In line with this athletic trend, people now want longer and leaner legs, which means in an increase in varicose vein and cellulite removal. Another trend in cosmetic surgery is fat injections, which is a procedure that has long been done but is growing increasingly popular. The treatment involves transferring fat from one part of the body (such as the thighs or stomach) to another location—typically the breasts or the buttocks. In fact, there was a 500% increase in the demand for a Brazilian butt lift last year, wherein fat from one part of the body is injected into the butt to increase its size in a safer and more conservative way.

Lastly, instead of going for the typical general anaesthetic, more people are now opting for local anaesthetics that keep them awake during the procedure. This is said to help in post-op recovery. Local anaesthetics are also cheaper. There is no need to avoid food or medications before the operation. People want less recovery time and to be discharged in a few hours as opposed to being admitted overnight and recover for weeks.

More patients are now choosing to go for less invasive treatments that are individualised through a specific combination of injections, lasers, and ultrasounds. There is a growing demand for procedures that cause less scarring and promise a faster recovery time.
