Bommer hinges are specialty builder-grade hinges sought after in both commercial and residential applications. They are made by the renowned and highly trusted company, Boomer Industries, whose Builders Hardware Division maintains to this day, the trademarks and standards of quality and innovation the business was founded on. Established in 1876, the Boomer brand remains to be the standard of excellence in architectural-grade hinges for over 125 years and counting. The brand is known for its industry-leading lines of butt hinges, single acting spring hinges, continuous aluminum geared hinges, double acting spring hinges, gate pivots, and specialty door hardware.

Bommer offers 2 basic architectural grade hinge series, namely the 5000 and 8000 series, differing in their basic structure. The 5000 series hinge is a five-knuckle hinge with button tips, while the 8000 series hinge is a three-knuckle with flush tips. Both hinge lines come in a variety of weights, sizes, types, and finishes. They also come with either a ball bearing or lube bearing. Ball bearing series hinges come with high-grade, chrome alloy steel ball bearings, specially engineered for permanent, dependable service. Lube bearing series hinges use a special nylon bearing material that requires little to no grease or oil maintenance.

Bommer’s architectural grade hinges come in various types and styles including:

  • Full mortise hinges – full mortise Bommer hinges are designed to have one leaf mortised in the jamb and the other in the door edge. This is a popular hinge application commonly seen in most architectural applications.
  • Half mortise hinges – in conditions where the door construction prevents the jamb leaf from a fully mortised installation (such as a channel iron jamb), a half mortise hinge is useful. It is designed so that one life can be applied to the surface of the Jamb and the other to the door edge.
  • Full surface hinges – these hinges are used when conditions don’t allow both of the hinge leaves to be mortised such as in mineral core doors or kalamein doors with channel iron jambs.
  • Half surface hinges – half surface hinges are commonly used in applications where installation conditions prevent the door leaf from being mortised.

• Bommer’s architectural hinges also come in a variety of hinge styles for various wall and door applications. These include wide throw, swing clear, anchor, raised barrel, and slip-in hinges, each designed to serve and support different types of design applications such as hospital doors, wide frame doors, automatic doors, etc.
