1. Selecting a perfume

Each perfume consists of various notes. These notes consist of 3 layers called base, middle and top notes and they work in synergy to create a specific smell. Men’s scents have various notes and musk perfumes have a heavier while others may have smelled like pine or even leather-based notes. It is always a good idea to check the kind of perfume you prefer and then see which base notes they contain before making a decision.

2. Choose a concentration

Fragrances come in various levels of concentration. As the concentration gets higher, the price gets higher as well. Normally, perfumes come in high concentration and are long-lasting and powerful. The next level is Eau de parfum, which last for 6 hours and the third level which is known as eau de toilette is fairly reasonable and easy to find in retail stores. It needs more than one application. The last concentration is eau de cologne which lasts for one or two hours.

3. Test the fragrance

Before choosing a perfume, you should do a test to ensure that it is something you want or not. Do a simple sniff test to get the idea of what it smells like. Try a bit of the aroma on your skin. This is why most of the stores provide testers for people to try them before purchasing. It is good to spray a small amount on your wrists and then smell the scent on your skin.
