Why Is 7-8 hrs of sleep per day beneficial?

People who sleep for just 4-5 hrs brag a lot about their habits. These are the people who will talk about work, doing things on time, staying up late and still waking up on time. But we cannot deny the fact, that these are the kind of people who are affected by lack of sleep. On an average, a Human body needs 7-8 hrs sleep on a daily basis. When it comes to children and young children below 10years, sleep for them is sufficient for almost 10-12 hrs. But when it comes to teenager and adults, it is important to sleep for 7-8 hrs per day.

Sleep contributes for maintaining immune system, manages hunger levels, retains memory and helps to decrease risk for health conditions. Studies state the fact that lack of sleep in humans can result in significant changes in the body accompanying with obesity, serious health concern and even early death. Now, who wants to compromise one life by not getting proper sleep? It is okay to change the routine and do work, but it is not okay to change the sleep schedule as it can really affect your health that can result in various diseases.

Why is sleep for 7-8 hrs beneficial?

1)      Sleep helps to manage your appetite- There is a good bond between sleep and appetite. Usually poor sleeps affects your appetite. Many people do not notice but it is a fact that poor sleeping habits leads to increase in body energy needs. Due to lack of sleep, one tends to eat more, crave more that will ultimately result in gaining weight which in turn affects our own health. To reduce this affect, we need to get proper sleep because good sleep is equal to good appetite.

2)      Sleep for longevity- As per the research, people who did not have 7-8 hrs of sleep experience premature death when compared to the people who had proper sleep of 7-8 hrs. Hence, healthy sleep is the key for healthy life. To have a longer life, sleep on time.

3)      Sleeps helps your memory- People who are sleep deprived have a problem in concentration or focusing on one thing. On the other hand, proper sleep helps you to focus, increases and strengthens memory. It also helps in long term memorizing, procedural memory and creative thinking.

4)      Sleep helps your immune system properly function – When we sleep, our immune system releases cytokines that helps to fight inflammation and infection that has a positive and protective effect on our immune system. But on the other hand, if we do not get proper sleep, then enough cytokines are not produced hence can resulting in having a bad immune system that will affect or health ultimately. Therefore, it is very important to have 7-8hrs of sleep to improve our immune system.

Lack of sleep can have bad affects on health which may result in various diseases and no one would want that. Work is important but sleep is important. After all, proper and good sleep is the key to good and healthy life.
