NIFT Entrance Exam

For taking admission in NIFT in Bachelor of Design and Master of Design one has to qualify two written examination. The first exam is called CAT (Creativity Ability Test) and the second exam is GAT (General Ability Test). For management and technology programmes like Bachelor in Fashion Technology, Master in Fashion Technology, and Master of Fashion Management a candidate has to qualify National Level Entrance exam conducted by NIFT itself.

NIFT Exam Pattern

The GAT paper has four sessions which include Communication ability, Quantitative ability, English Comprehension, Analytic ability, General knowledge and current affairs.
In Creativity Ability Test(CAT) a candidate is judged on the basis of his/ her designing skill, the power of innovation and creation. The most important part of this round is the creative use of colours and designing.
In the Situation test round a candidate is evaluated on the basis of his/her creativity, exceptional ideas, use of colours, utilization of materials that are provided to them at that time and overall presentation.
In the Group Discussion, a candidate needs qualities like leadership, problem-solving attitude, effective communication skills, interpersonal skills and a fair idea on the topic assigned to them etc.
In the Personal Round, a candidate is evaluated on the basis of their career orientation, their grip on the chosen field, academic achievement and co-curricular activities and many other.
