Mouth - Watering Recipe Of Gulab Jamun

Gulab Jamun is one of India's most favourite sweet dish. These deep-fried Gulab Jamuns are so mouth-watering and delicious that they just get melted the moment you keep them in the mouth. The ingredients needed for the Gulab Jamun recipe are readily available in the kitchen.

Below is the delicious Gulab Jamun recipe:

Ingredients for Gulab Jamun:

  • 100 gram khoya
  • 1 tablespoon maida (refined flour)
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • Ghee for frying
  • Ingredients for syrup:
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 4 green cardamoms (elaichi)

How to make Gulab Jamun:

1. Start by mashing the khoya properly with the help of your hands on a clean flat surface. Make sure that there are lumps remained. After smashing the khoya, add refined flour and baking soda to it. Mix all the ingredients well knead into a firm dough.

2. The dough should be firm yet flexible. If you feel that the mixture is dry, then rework on it by wetting your hands.

3. Once the dough is ready, heat ghee in a kadhai on a low flame. Till the time ghee is heated, shape the dough into jamuns. Make sure that the size is nor too big nor too small.

4. To check whether the ghee is heated or not, add a small piece of dough in the kadhai, if it comes up at once, the ghee is ready for frying.

5. Then add the jamuns to ghee and fry them till they turn golden brown.

6. Remove the jamuns and keep them aside and prepare the syrup.

7. To make the syrup, take water, add sugar to it and place it over low heat. Increase the heat and then bring the mixture to a boil. Remove the layer that gets collected on the sides of the pan and then switch off the gas.

8. Let the mixture cool down for half an hour. Add cardamoms (elaichi) to the syrup and boil it again. Turn off the gas and then add the fried gulab jamuns to the syrup.

9. Let the gulab jamuns stay in the syrup for at least half an hour.

The delicious Gulab Jamuns are ready to serve. This Gulab Jamun recipe can serve about ten to twelve people. You can consume them immediately and if you want to store the leftover Gulab Jamuns, transfer them into a container and store in a refrigerator. Gulab Jamuns can be stored for a maximum of 2 days.
