"The IPL remains the biggest T20 tournament in the world, and I can't wait to rejoin Virat Kohli and the rest of my team-mates at Royal Challengers Bangalore, where we will all be working hard to erase the disappointments of 2018. " De Villiers told ESPN Cricinfo.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have a formidable team at their disposal but the franchise has never managed to win the coveted IPL title. They have thrice reached the finals but have failed to lift the trophy every single time. Last time around, De Villiers and Kohli were both in top forms and scored a plethora of runs but failed to make RCB qualify for the semifinals.

However, AB believes this time around, the team will come out more clinical and try to leave past struggles behind to aim for their maiden title. "Everybody knows RCB have the potential to win the IPL, and nobody knows quite why we have tended to perform so far below that potential, but we’re not far away, and I fully expect us to be extremely competitive in 2019,” de Villiers said speaking about his side's title chances in the upcoming season.

The South African maestro has so far played 141 matches in the IPL and scored a staggering 3,953 runs at an astounding average of 39.53 and a whopping strike rate of over 150. He has scored three centuries and 28 fifties in his stellar IPL career. He will certainly hold the key to RCB's success in the tournament next season.
