Web Design Tips That Add Flare To Your Site

Choose proper graphic for your web designs. Remember, bitmap images are huge and usually don’t work well, PNGs work fine. GIFs can be quite good for simple text buttons, screenshots, etc and PNGs are great for images with 256 colors and up. JPEG images can be used for photos.

Do not underestimate the value of a website that loads fast, with no slowdowns. No visitor is going to wait more than a few seconds for your page to load, so ensure they get what they want quickly so they don’t go to your competition’s website instead.

If you want your site to bring in more visitors, you should ensure it’s simple to navigate. Links should be displayed where users will find them easily. Simple menus will make navigation easy for your visitors. Ensure that you have a link to your website’s home page on every page on your website so that visitors can easily return to you site’s main page.

Don’t make your page sizes any larger than necessary. Some people do not have speedy Internet connections, and if they have to wait a long time for your site to load, they probably won’t be interested in viewing it. There’s no reason to make viewers wait.

Be mindful of your background. Some sites include complex or patterned GIF backgrounds that can make text hard to read, no matter how novel it may look. Choose a background to work with your website, not conflict with it, and your visitors will be able to better read and understand your site, and your point of view.

Creating a newsletter can help you get repeat visitors. When you allow people to receive notifications about special events, discounts or updates, they are more likely to visit your site multiple times. Track the number of visitors who sign up, and position the sign-up form in your site’s sidebar. Make sure you only send out the letter to those that have explicitly requested to view it.

Be sure to do good keyword research. While giving viewers quality and up-to-date information should be your main focus, you must try building a customer base. If you want your site to be successful, you must understand how to use keywords properly.

Offer your site visitors a way to provide you with feedback. Thus, if there is a gap in your site’s offerings or visitors are confused about using your site, it will be easy for you to remedy the situation. If you actively seek your visitors’ feedback and make changes as a result, your visitors will feel like active participants in your site. This will encourage them to keep visiting the site.

Make your website content grabbing to readers. Website design is critical, but without content, it won’t matter. When you have relevant content on your site that appeals to your viewers and takes into account what they are looking for, there is a good chance they will want to visit again in the near future.

Make sure you optimize your website for older Internet Explorer versions like IE7 and IE8. Most people have a love-hate relationship with IE; however, many people are still using it, including older versions. These require the use of some workarounds. An example would be the vexing “box model bug” which troubled IE for quite some time.

The things you’ve just learned will help you tremendously. Understand that this is just basic information. Keep learning to continue improving your skills. Always look for more information and learn all you can to make it easier to be proficient with web design.
