To properly sanitize your door mat, hiring a professional cleaning service is always the guarantee that nothing wrong will happen but you can save by doing the cleaning yourself.

In that case, as the idea is to save money, forget the chemicals because they can be expensive and what we want here is that you use products you already have at home to make the process easier.

Follow the tips below on how to clean your rug and it will be ready to be used every day:

Make your stain remover:

Do you want something more unpleasant than finding your spotted sour? Be with your pet's urine, drinks, wine or sauces. Fortunately, there are ways to remove the stains without having to wash the rugs completely.

1.    First, just try to absorb as much liquid as possible with absorbent paper, then wipe a damp cloth with warm water and let it dry naturally.

2.    If the stains do not come out, make a mixture of a quart of water with ¼ cup of neutral liquid soap - the same one you already use on a day to day basis.

3.    Stir the mixture vigorously or use a mixer to create foam. This will make the product penetrate more easily and evenly on the carpet.

4.    To clean with the homemade solution, use a soft brush and gently rub the foam into the fibers of the stained carpet in a circular motion. After the stain is removed, the area should be wiped with a damp cloth and dried with a hairdryer.

5.    Do not use brooms, squeegees or brushes with firm bristles as they can damage the carpet hairs and texture, which are the charm of the mats.

How to wash the rug with vinegar?

The vinegar is already a great known for cleaning of surfaces and removal of adhesives because it is a natural and neutralizing disinfectant.

And it can also be used to clean your barrier mats. With its properties, vinegar is able to kill the microorganisms that develop between the fibers of the carpet as well as neutralize the acidity of urine of pets while eliminating unpleasant odors.
