Minimize Wear and Tear with these Linen Laundering Tips

Taking good care of your Hotel bed & bath Linen in a proper way would help in prolonging their life, lessen wear and tear and keep them comfortable and soft. To keep those luxury items feeling and looking as beautiful and soft as they did the day you purchased them, you would have to take additional care while laundering, as well as storing them.

Washing bed linens:

Keep in mind that the majority of fine fabrics are not meant to be pre-washed. The first wash is the vital wash. It actually sets the thread that helps in preserving the fabric – keeping your bed linens appearing new for as long as possible.

Selecting a detergent:

You should use a mild detergent that doesn’t contain any bleaching agents at all. Be certain that the detergent is also free from peroxide or chlorine. This is because chlorine would weaken the fiber of the sheets and result in them to discolor. If you ever need to use bleach for brightening or stain removal, then be sure that you use an oxygen-based product. It is also important to choose such a detergent that will be good for your Micro Cotton Linen.

Add your detergent to the washing machine since it should not be directly poured onto the linens. Once the tub is filled with clean water and you have added the detergent, then add your linens. Fine linens generally require half the suggested amount of detergent; however, in case they are pretty soiled, then you can add more. But don’t overload the machine because this would cause the fibers to break down due to excessive agitation and abrasion.

You should not use fabric softeners on your bed linens since they can result in damage to the fibers. Quality, good bed linens would soften over time, so, no fabric softeners required.

Wash cycle:

Set your washing machine for a gentle, warm water wash along with a cold rinse. Don’t wash them in hot water and never wash your luxury bed and bath linens on a regular cycle. Hot water or a harsh cycle might cause the fibers in the linens to break.

Other tips:

In case your linens are embroidered, then they are more delicate and should separately be laundered. For silk linens, check the care instructions given by the manufacturer. But before everything else, make sure that you purchase quality linens from a Leading Hotel Linen Supplier because they provide quality linens that last long.
