The donations were organized by the civil affairs division and cooperation and exchange office of the Minhang government. About 550 boxes of clothing were donated within a short time after the appeal began. Minhang has been ?paired? with Zepu since 2010 as part of national efforts to marshal the resources of wealthy areas of the nation to aid poverty pockets. Minhang?s contributions have included help for Zepu enterprises, exchange programs and social assistance. Its aid model has been praised by the National Development and Reform Commission. Minhang?s Party chief Zhu Zhisong led a delegation to Zepu last summer. The district allocated more than 14 million yuan (US.1 million) in poverty aid for Zepu. Apart from aid to the Xinjiang county, Minhang also has helped in flood relief to Sichuan and Yunnan provinces.
