Survive Daylight Saving Time with These Makeup Tips

Posted by 100% PURE on February 15th, 2019

If you’re like most, the date March 10, 2019 might not seem to have any significance (unless it’s your birthday, anniversary, friendaversary, etc.). But it’s going to be a memorable day whether you like it or not. That’s because March 10 marks the start of daylight saving time, and if you remember the “spring forward, fall back” saying, then you’ll know this is the one most people dread.

Sure, we get to enjoy an extra hour of sunlight, and this is the signal that springtime and summer are upon us, but it comes at a cost—an hour less of sleep. While your internal clock is readjusting, waking up in the morning might be a bit of a drag, and you might show it. Luckily, with a little makeup magic and some self-care, you can keep a bright-eyed look. Whether it’s the first week of daylight saving time or just a groggy Monday, here are a few tips.

Awaken Your Eyes

When you first wake up and discover that you’re effectively an hour behind schedule, your first step should be to pump up the moisture. Start by rinsing and washing your face, and then it’s time to address the puffiness around your eyes. Use an eye cream with caffeine to give your eyes a boost of vitamins and antioxidants that will stimulate collagen growth along with blood circulation, so you can reduce the puffiness and start to lessen the appearance of dark circles. After this first crucial step, you're ready to begin applying cosmetics to achieve the bright-eyed, "no, I didn't sleep past my alarm" look.

Counteract Under-Eye Circles

Depending on how tired you really are, you might still show signs of dark under-eye circles. To fight against this, you should reach for a cream foundation and dab a bit under your eyes. Using a brush or just your fingertip, tap and press the foundation into your under-eye area out to the outer corner. By using a fortified foundation with nourishing natural ingredients that offers full coverage, you can cover all traces of your dark circles for a well-rested look.

Be Strategic with Eyeliner

If you apply a thick, black line on the top and bottom of your eyelidsit can make your eyes appear smaller; something that you don’t want on a drowsy morning. Instead, you should get strategic and try out three separate eyeliners: a black, a lighter brown, and a nude one. Use the black liner on your top lid for definition, the lighter brown one lightly on the bottom, and then finish off with the nude liner on the waterline and near your tear duct. With this combination, you can awaken your eyes. Just be sure to use eyeliner that’s made without harsh synthetic chemicals, so you can avoid irritation.

Bigger Lashes for Brighter Eyes

Mascara can do wonders to open up your eyes, and when it feels physically hard to do in the morning, making your eyes at least appear like they’re alert and awake is crucial. Opt for a high-quality, dark mascara that contrasts your eyes, and be sure to use an eyelash curler to help open up your eyes and combat a drowsy look.
