It is easy to go out and try to buy plants that look beautiful in the garden shop, just to get them home and realize that they are bad for your landscape. These tips will help you develop a plan and put you on the path to creating a beautiful, consistent and thriving landscape design.

1.   Get to know your backyard

Think about your regional climate, topography of your site and soil type during landscape planning.

It should be remembered that specific shipyard conditions may cause the formation of a microclimate depending on the amount and length of exposure to the sun and shade in a given area. The topography of the site is important to consider as well as the plan; pay attention to how water flows into your landscape. The hardscape contractors promotes the movement of water away from home towards other areas of the yard.

2.   Who will use your yard?

Remember that you can create different spaces for different applications in the landscape, by using landscape management and designs. Transitions can be used to move people from one area to another.

Since you will be using and maintaining a landscape, think about your maintenance style and budget. Be as realistic as you can. How much time do you really have to put in your landscape? Establishing answers to these questions will help ensure the success of your landscape for many years.

3.   Think about themes

The theme can unify the landscape and help in the selection of plants and materials. Themes can be as simple as using consistent shapes or forms around the yard or as complex as creating a relaxing.

Deciding on your backyard, a good place to start is to look at the architecture of your home. Try to complete the lines and architectural style of your home in your backyard; in the end your backyard is an extension of your home.
