Harm, Cause and Treatment of Jaw Crusher Cavity Compaction

Posted by updatebeltroad on March 13th, 2019

Jaw crusher, specifically quarry jaw crusher, belongs to mining equipment, is mostly used for crushing limestone, gypsum and other raw materials in the cement industry. Because it is equipped with safety parts--brackets, accidents such as shaft breakage and jaw plate breakage are not easy to  occur. However, when unexpected matters enter jaw cavity or jaw cavity compaction, serious accidents such as shaft breakage and jaw plate breakage will occur.

Compaction of the crushing cavity refers to the phenomenon that the material filled in the crushing cavity cannot be discharged in time. The materials that enter cannot be discharged in time, causing compaction in the crushing chamber, which is of great damage. First, the output decreases while the load increases. If it is not found in time, it may also cause accidents.

The main causes of cavity compaction are as follows:

First, in order to reduce the crushing particle size, the discharge opening is adjusted too small and lower than the normal allowable adjustment range. It reduces the discharge capacity, causes the crushed materials to be unable to be removed in time, causing cavity compaction.

Second, the materials are wet and sticky, which leads to unfavorable discharge and compaction due to gradual accumulation of materials.

Third, some units have increased rotating speed to an inappropriate one in order to increase production. After the rotating speed is increased, the discharging time is relatively shortened which makes the materials cannot be removed in time, resulting in compaction.

Due to the occurrence of compaction, the load will be greatly increased, and the counterforce of the compacted materials will act on the bearing seat and shaft through the jaw plate, which will easily cause the jaw plate, shaft, bearing seat bolt and other fractures.

Once the jaw cavity of jaw crusher is compacted, it must be found and treated immediately, otherwise there will be accidents like before.

If the analysis shows that the discharge opening is too small, the discharge opening must be enlarged through adjustment so that the material can be discharged in time.

If the material is wet, the viscosity of the material can be reduced through the combination of dry and wet materials, so that the material can be discharged in time;

If the rotating speed is too fast, the rotating speed can be reduced by adjusting the transmission speed ratio to prolong the discharging time, etc.

At the same time, it is also explained here that if the bearing seat bolts sheared and brackets broken often, and no unexpected matters such as iron blocks are found to enter the machine cavity, it is necessary to consider whether there is compaction, and the treatment method is the same as above. In addition, because this article focuses on the treatment of compaction, other forms of damage to the crusher and common faults of the crusher will not be repeated here.
