Tennis Coaching Tips

Learning to play tennis can be a fun and enjoyable learning experience. In tennis, players can benefit from learning the basics before gradually advancing to more complex concepts. Tennis can be a great way to get in shape and improve your overall health.

There are several ways you can be successful teaching young children to play tennis. First and foremost you have to make it fun. Make your sessions fun by playing all kinds of games. Challenge them to hit 5 balls without hitting the net. Give them points for hitting certain parts of the court. If they are not that skilled yet and they are missing it or hitting it on the frame of the racquet reward them and give them points for making good impact on the strings.

The first thing you need to learn to play tennis is a racket. As a beginner, lower weight racquets are ideal because they will give you extra power and help prevent injuries. I suggest using a racquet that is below 11 ounces. As you continue to learn to play tennis, you can always increase the weight of your racket. The second thing you need to learn to play tennis is a coach. You can find a coach at your local tennis club. A coach will teach you the proper tennis technique. Singapore Tennis classes for Kids

Do not be over concerned with having your young tennis player use perfect technique at first. Concentrate on keeping them moving. Have them move side to side and up and back and on a diagonal. Have them hopping on their feet the entire time. Make sure they are not standing around and you are not being too critical in their form. If they are a raw beginner do not feed balls at them as they may have difficulty just making contact. Have them run to you and just drop the ball next to their racquet and have them hit it. This makes it much easier and gives them confidence quickly.

People who learn to play tennis often struggle for a while to understand these rules, but eventually it makes sense after playing a few matches. Each player stands at opposite ends of the court. The person who hits the first ball is the server. The person who returns that ball is the returner.

At the beginning of a match, you can flip a coin or spin a racquet to decide who can serve or receive first. The server starts the point by tossing a ball into the air and hitting it crosscourt into the box. The returner hits the ball back. The first person to hit a ball outside the court or into the net loses the point. You can also lose a point by missing two serves or having your body or racket touching the net. After winning four points you win a game. After winning six games, you win a set. After winning two sets, the player wins the match.  Adult Tennis Lessons in Singapore

In the beginning, instead of having them play in the entire court have them play only in the service boxes. For a young child the tennis court looks like a giant field and they can get lost in that big an area.

When you first begin to learn to play tennis, the first stroke you will want to work on is your groundstrokes. Groundstrokes are the shots you hit from the line closest to the fence, also known as the baseline. To hit a groundstroke, hold you racquet below your waist, and hit the ball from low to high.

Tennis is a sport that's very much dependent on proper technique. Bad technique not only hampers your game, but leaves you at risk of injuries and long-term muscle damage. Remember, tennis isn't just a short-term game, and learning the techniques that will keep you healthy for the long-term are just as important as mastering the skill shots and techniques that help you win matches. Private Tennis Lessons in Singapore

You can only improve so much through practice alone. League play doesn't have to be super competitive, and even the most friendly league can help you develop the confidence required to really succeed at tennis. A large portion of in-game ability isn't just technique and focus, but the confidence and mind-set that come with experience in competition. Start by playing friendly games against other students, and then graduate through the ranks to club play and semi-competitive local tennis groups.
