Unified Payments Interface or UPI is a payment system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). This system uses a UPI ID to make transfers. In case the UPI ID is not available, transfers can be made using the bank account and IFSC code of the recipient. UPI is an extremely safe and secure method to transfer funds. Since the bank account details are not shared with people, it prevents misuse to that extent. There are several UPI apps in the marketplace for people to choose. Most of the UPI apps are fast money transfer app since UPI payments are instant.

These are the best UPI apps in India:

  1. BHIM SBI Pay:

India’s largest banker has its own UPI app. The user interface is simple with large icons to help the user with making and receiving payments. This app also has a feature to pay bills. This app allows the user to add more than one bank account. It is possible to easily toggle between a business UPI account and a consumer one.

  1. BHIM UPI app:

This is the official UPI app from NPCI. This is a minimal app with a few icons to guide the user. This app also offers bill payments. The BHIM app allows bank account number and IFSC code based payments as well.

  1. Axis Bank UPI app:

In contrast to other UPI apps, the Axis Bank app has a bright pink interface. This app also integrates payments. This app allows payment using the Bharat QR code.

  1. HDFC UPI app:

This is another popular app. This app can be opened and used from within the HDFC mobile banking app. It is possible to create several UPI IDs or virtual addresses to send to different people.

  1. PhonePe app:

PhonePe is a wallet based app which now offers UPI based payments as well. It offers both UPI ID and bank account linked payments as well as bill payments through the app. While making a transaction using PhonePe, it allows you to choose the account from which you want to make a payment before, which allows you to plan your payments.

  1. Google Pay:

This is Google’s UPI app. It was earlier known as Tez before being renamed to Google Pay. Like most UPI apps, this one is also extremely simple to use. This app offers rewards to customers for using the platform in the form of scratch cards for cashback. Google Pay is a fast money transfer app because of how easy it is to use.
