Managing Stress and AnxietyPosted by Mike on April 30th, 2019 Handling stress effeiciently is not an easy task and it requires both efforts from your mind and body. Not everyone can manage handling their stress in an efficient manner and often times anxiety and depression is the result. The ADAA (Anxiety and Depression Association of America) currently has no clinical evidence as to why depression and anxiety co-exist. If you are suffering from social anixety, generalized anxiety or similar anxiety disorders you have come to realize that your anixety and depression go hand in hand. You get anxious, worrying whether people are looking at you, hard to make friends and because of this, you start to think badly of yourself and then become depressed. Symptoms of Depression and AnxietyMost people suffering from anxiety and depression have these signs:
Most people don't think about what they are doing and can have fun with other people and enjoy doing things that people with anixety have trouble with. Myself included suffering from social anxiety, know that my thoughts of constant worry, nervousness are irrational. The majority of the time, there is not anything to worry about, but for some reason we continue to worry. What Can I Do To Cope With My Anxiety And Depression?
The above is only a short list of things that can be done to help you cope with your anxiety and depression. Below are a few things that have helped me and some people I know in more detail. Cognitive Behavioral TherapyThis is a popular and effective therapeutic approach to managing your symptoms. My good friend tried this technique and learned it's based on the principle that his thoughts, beliefs and attitude affected his behavior. He found by changing his negative thought patterns, the world began to open up and not look so bad. There are 15 distortions that affect our thought process which are main causes for our anxiety.
People who suffer from these distortions and false beliefs truly believe their lives are lived in this way. What happens is anxiety and other mental disorders consume them. Other techniques that are apart of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy For Anxiety are:
Essential OilsI've struggled with anxiety and stress most of my life. Something I like to use to help calm my anxiety is essential oils. Essential Oils for Anxiety and Panic Attacks are known as "Adaptogens" meaning they can stimulate and relax the nervous system. Also meaning the same oil that calms one person may not have a positive effect on another. Ruhr University in Germany found essential oils affect many factors of the human body such as heart rate, blood pressure, stress levels and our immune system. This is a comprehensive list you can try:
Many of these oils are used and work for many people. Please consult your doctor before trying any of these in case your skin is sensitive and you are allergic. Natural SupplementsI also include natural supplements into my diet which help reduce and calm my anixety. I prefer to take something that is natural opposed to common medications that come with many side effects. Natural Supplements you can take are:
There are so many different supplements you can take to control your anxiety. I suggest going for a blood test with your doctor before starting a regimen as he/she will be able to find out what your body is lacking. I was low on Vitamin D, Vitamin B and Magnesium. My doctor also suggested to me taking Fish Oil and using Chamomile Tea as this has a nice calming effect on me. Stress, worry, anxiety and depression all take a toll on our bodies. They affect our mental health and deplete many nutrients our bodies need. Our cortisol levels increase with stress and we become exhausted. Constant worry and high levels of cortisol can make you depressed, impair memory and learning abilities. I'm not completely worry free, but life has improved through learning and taking the time to see my doctor and supplements I was lacking. I wish you a happy and healthy anxiety free life. Like it?
