Things to do while you visit Karaweik Palace

Karaweik Hall was designed in such a way that it resembles a royal boat, with  2 graceful birds, detailed and highly ornate roof. The front of this palace looks like a Karaweik which is a mythological bird from the Burmese legends and folklore. In its beak, it has a golden ball. Red and gold are the main colors of this palace.

Inside the Palace, you’ll be able to find theatres, Yangon restaurants, buffet, conference rooms and receptions halls. If you visit Yangon then this’s the best place where you can enjoy an extensive buffet, selection of Western, Burmese and Chinese food as you watch different types of traditional Burmese entertainment. Normally the entertainment lasts about 3 hours and consists of traditional Burmese dancing, elephant dance, and a Burmese puppet show. The dancers who wear the traditional Burmese costumes to exhibit some Burmese handcrafts and arts.

While you’re at Karaweik Palace, you can get very clear views of Kandawgyi lake one of the largest lakes in Yangon. Since this palace is located at the lake you can decide to enjoy a boat ride around the lake as a way of relaxing during your visit. At the Southern end of this lake, there is a boardwalk where you can pay an entrance fee of 2,000 Kyat.
