How To Expand And Strengthen Lung Capacity For Playing Instruments?

Playing wind instruments or singing actually need strong foundation of training, connection of breath and lung capacity. Try to fill your belly with air while inhaling deeply and exhale air slowly.  Your diaphragm contracts downward and belly expands while you inhale and your intercostals and abs contract while you exhale.

Here we have mentioned five breathing exercises that singers can try and improve their performances:

Inhale deeply via nose and hold for 3 seconds or count three and exhale through mouth slowly. Repeat this exercise for at least thrice.

Lie down the floor using yoga mat or blanket in such a way your back connects with floor, knee point towards ceiling and arms at your side. Now inhaled via nose/mouth deeply while counting 3-4 and imagine wider and longer back. Now exhale via mouth/nose while counting 4. Repeat inhaling/exhaling via mouth/nose at least 3times.

You should try straw inhaling means you should inhale the way you inhale via straw and count 4 and exhale the same way and keep this cycle on for four counts.

Yoga breathing can also boost the lung capacity and you might be aware of it. You just need to close your eyes and focus on the breathing cycles.

You should try exercises to relax and loosen up your muscles. You can try stretching exercises for chest, neck and face.

You can also use some instruments to improve your singing and strengthen lung capacity.
