If you want to learn how to make natural organic soap in the comfort of your home, then you have come to the right place. Before you get started on this, you need to find out exactly what ingredients you may need in order to make your very own natural organic handwash.

The first ingredient you need is lye, along with oils and essential oils as well as butter. You can use olive oil or coconut extract for your soap making process, although it is highly recommended that you use olive oil as there are numerous olive oil soap benefits for people who use organic soap on a regular basis.

You should be prepared to use the trial and error process to perfect your soap making technique. It is impossible to get it right on the first try, but you can always learn from your mistakes after manufacturing some unsuccessful batches.

So, what is natural soap? It is any kind of soap that is devoid of any harmful or toxic chemicals and made with mostly natural ingredients. Soap is a basic concoction of oil and lye, and these two ingredients are generally fused in order to make a hard bar of soap. You would need to use water in your soap making process in order to activate the lye and to disperse it evenly throughout the oil. The water you will use here will evaporate when you begin the curing process. Thus, the bar that will be ready for use will be generally smaller than the mould you set it in as most of the water will evaporate from your soap.

Initially, you need to aim for around 33-38 per cent of lye concentration in your soaps. As you get more expert at this soap making process, you can reduce the concentration of your lye although this is not recommended when you are initially starting out. Although you can use any kind of oil, you should aim to use olive oil or Castile to make a good organic soap. The oil you will use in your soap making process will determine the properties of your soap such as hardness and lather, and olive oil doesn’t lather like traditional inorganic soap, thus it can last for a long period of time. You can also add some extra oils at the end of your soap making process that will add an extra bit of moisturizing ability to your organic soap.

As a newbie at this, you should not try to experiment too much with the recipe and only stick the methods that have been proved to give the best results. Some common oils used in the soap making process are beeswax, olive oil, coconut oil or cocoa butter among others. If you want to add extra oils at the end, you can go for the grapefruit seed extract which can add a pleasant and natural smell to your organic soap. You can even add rosemary to add a bit of spice to your soap.
