Replacement Window Glass

Sometimes it is easier to dream up what we want to do that actually getting around to doing it. For example, recently I was asked about replacing window glass. A reader wanted to know if it was possible to use insulated window glass. While generally this is better spoken than done I have considered writing a review about this topic. Read more below.

If you need to replace windows that are insulated then you need to be ready for some bit of challenge - unless of course you will be hiring a contractor. Usually I recommend doing the latter to save your self from the stress and time wasted especially if you've never done it before. However, if you insist on doing it yourself then you need to buy a replacement window glass kit and start with a small window first.

The reason why I recommend a kit is because in most cases you might have to make your mortise deeper especially if you want to use insulated window glass panels. Without the proper tools this may ruin your interior profile of the window sash. You may find yourself removing some of the molded profile while cutting away the wood.

Some of the issues to worry about when replacing replacement window glass include that of energy saving i.e. energy saving maximization, preserving the look and feel of your home and also the cost implications. You can only get best solutions to these concerns once you have an expert come over your house for an inspection.
