How to Make Kids Smart

Posted by Cafe Whiz on July 27th, 2019

Smart kids are able to swiftly and promptly react to different situations. The modern world is not quite an easy place to live in and kids need to have the intelligence to cope with unpredictable and difficult times. While conventionally being a smart child was considered to be someone who’s intelligent, has a high IQ level and has high common sense, today the term encompasses a broader perspective. A smart kid today is health conscious, is able to communicate with anyone and everyone, has great reading and writing skills, is good at extra-curricular activities, is extremely high on social skills, has a global perspective, is environmentally conscious, has good control over his emotions and has a reasonable thinking capability, all of which can be summed up as Smart Skills.

The good news is that kids can learn these smart skills from their early years itself. Childhood is that stage of the life when the brain is rapidly developing and skill sets taught to kids at this age will remain with them for as long as they live. Researchers believe that parents should get started with teaching smart skills to their kids from the crib itself.

The advantage of starting early is that the brain learns the aspects through everyday activities and with regular practise the same gets reinforced and embedded deeply in his mannerisms, reactions and behaviour impacting his overall nature positively. This leads to a higher probability of the child reaching milestones and achieving success as an adult.

While there are copious methods to impart smart skills training to kids, our approach is to provide individualized solutions that are child-dependent and child-centric. Since no two children are the same, each child needs to be treated differently that is in contrast to tried-and-tested methods. However, at the basic level, it is advisable to get kids started as early as possible. Encouraging them to read and interacting with them can make good beginnings. What is essential to understand here is to inculcate good habits in the child whether it is pertaining to physical fitness or use of proper language and tone. Encouraging their creative minds and limiting the screen time is also effective. Parents need to ensure that they need to give their kids space so that they can fail and fall and learn; rather than being always available to take care of situations, things and people. And little words of encouragement and appreciation for their hard work will also leave an effectual impact.
