A role playing game, (usually abbreviated as RPG) is a game in which players assume the role of characters themselves around a fictional setting. This is where the term role-playing comes from. The players play their roles in the game just as the actors do on the stage. In role playing games, players are seated around the table and describe their roles instead of actually performing like a real actor.
