10 Things to Know Before Going to a Night Liquor Party

1. What Liquor Shops Are Open?

Whoever is responsible for purchasing the alcohol for the event may have already purchased it ahead of time. If not, they will need to consider what is still open. For example, liquor stores in the UAE are not hard to find, even if you are unfamiliar with the area, a quick Google search will sort out the directions.

2. What Types of Liquor Will the Party Contain?

Nowadays there is such a broad range of liquor's available and it can seem a bit overwhelming knowing how to narrow it down to just a few bottles for tasting. One method which can help if you are a host is to set buying ranges. For example, only buy liquors online within a certain price range, vintage, country of origin or alcohol type. This way it themes the night nicely too.

3. There May Be Music (And Dance!)

Some of these liquor tasting nights are there to focus on the tasting of the drink, and just that. However, some hosts may have arranged other forms of entertainment such as music, dance, or even some food to help soak up that alcohol!

4. The Guests May Be Asked to Contribute

Guests themselves may be asked to bring a bottle of liquor or contribute a certain amount of money. This will not always be the case, but it is understandable if someone is putting together an event like this it can get quite expensive especially as liquor is one of the more expensive drinks.

5. Prepare Yourself

If you are going to be drinking a bit more alcohol in one night then normal, especially high percentage alcohol like liquor, it is a good idea to make sure you have eaten plenty beforehand so your stomach has been lined. It is also a very good idea to make sure you have drunk plenty of water before you begin.

6. Bring the Right Amount Of Booze

If you are attending or especially if you are hosting a liquor night party, you need to make sure there is the right amount of booze to go around. If lots of bottles go untouched it’s a bit of a waste unless you know an encore is planned soon! Too little and there will not be enough to go around. If you search online some very helpful calculators will work out how much alcohol you will need to purchase based on the amount attending the event.

7. You May Be Taking Notes

Sometimes we are talking about a far more casual affair, other times it could be a bit more of a serious couple of hours or so, where you are trying the different liquors and taking notes. The hosts should make it clear if they are aiming for a casual or formal tasting session.

8. There May Be A Dress Code

The event organisers may put a dress code in place. Before you go on your way to the party, make sure you are aware of any required dress code so you can dress correctly.

9. Where Is the Event Held?

Often events are held around a host’s house, other times a rented hall. It can even be a pub or restaurant, or a booked room in a hotel. Sometimes the settings are pretty plush, other times more down to earth. Any guests going should have been told the venue plenty of time in advance but if you are unsure contact the organizers.

10. How Are You Getting Home

Last, but most definitely not least, when your night has (hopefully) come to a pleasant end you need to make sure you have made arrangements to get home, or you know how you plan on doing so. By this point, you may have drunk a fair bit of alcohol and of course, you most definitely should not be driving so you will either have to use public transport or a taxi service if no non-drinker can give you a lift home. It is best to make sure you have these arrangements in place before you begin your night at the liquor party.
