What is LED Lighting?

LED stands for “light emitting diode.” This type of lighting is often brighter than other types, and it provides a very clear, clean light that is frequently used in stores and other areas where having a brightly lit location is important or necessary.LED downlight installation

Why is it important to consider LED Lighting?

There are several reasons why a business would want to consider using LED lighting. These include:

Energy Efficiency

LEDs generally consume very low amounts of power, so they can be used for long periods of time without costing a lot of money. For businesses that have large stores, factories, or other locations, that energy efficiency makes a big cost difference.

Lifespan

The average LED lasts 50,000 to 100,000 operating hours or more. That is two to four times longer than fluorescent lighting, metal halide lighting, and even sodium vapor lighting. Additionally, this lifespan is more than 40 times as long as the average incandescent bulb that is typically used in both residential and commercial applications.

Light Quality

The quality of the light from an LED is different from other lighting sources. This light is clear, bright, and clean, so it does not cast harsh shadows or cause the glare that some other lighting options can give.

Low Maintenance costs

Having lighting with such a long lifespan leads to much lower maintenance costs in terms of labour and replacement parts. That saves money in two ways, since the parts do not have to be replaced as often and the company does not have to pay someone to maintain the lights as frequently.

Environmentally Safe

Unlike more traditional lighting solutions such as mercury vapor or fluorescent lighting, LED lights do not contain mercury internal to the bulb. Because of that, these lights are much safer to dispose of.

Affordability

The cost of LED Lighting has come down a lot recently, and now the initial investment in the lighting and the length of time it takes to get that money back in savings makes much more sense.
