Vidyasiri Scholarship is provided by the government of Karnataka for especially for listed Backward classes & SC/ STs. In behalf of the government, the Department of Backward classes welfare manages and control all processes of the scholarship.

Vidyasiri Scholarship 2019

Eligibility Criteria

Post-Matric Scholarship/ Fee Concession/ Food and Accommodation/ Nursing Stipend

  • An applicant should be a permanent resident of the State of Karnataka.
  • The candidate should belong to either Backward Classes/ SC/STs or PWD (Person with disability).
  • The annual income of the family of the applicant should not exceed Rs 2 Lakh for SC/STs and Rs 1 lakh for Backward Class/ PWD candidates.
  • An applicant should be pursuing Post-Matric Courses which are recognised by the Karnataka government across India.
  • At last, to avail, this scholarship candidate should have to maintain 75% attendance in that course.

D. Devaraja Prathibha Puruskar

Similarly, to get D. Devaraja Prathibha Puruskar candidate also has to fulfil following eligibility conditions.

  • Here, an applicant should also be a permanent Domicile (resident) of Karnataka and studying within Karnataka Private/Govt School/ College..
  • The candidate should belong to backward class subcategories Category-1, Categories 2A, 3A and 3B.
  • The 90% marks will be required in SSLC/ Secondary PUC exam held in March/ April.
  • Annual Income limit should not be more than Rs 2.50 Lakh for Category 1 and Rs 1 Lakh for Category 2A, 3A and 3B.

Hostel Accommodation/Fee

There is one more scholarship scheme for the students of Karnataka who belongs to backward classes/SC/ST's. To avail this scheme an applicant has to fulfil the following conditions.

  • An applicant should belong to the one of the category: Backward Classes (Category I, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B) SC/STs.
  • Annual Income should not be more than Rs 2.50 Lakh.
  • The student home should be 5KM away from college.

Amount of Scholarship

  1. Post Matric Scholarship Amount: Under Post-Matric Scholarship government provides Full Course Fee Concession. Moreover, it also includes monthly maintenance allowances such as Food and Accommodation.
  2. D. Devaraja Urs Prathibha Purskar Amount: This scheme provides Rs 10,000 to 1000 SSLC students and Rs. 15,000 for Secondary PUC students.
  3. Hostel Accommodation Amount: Under this scholarship government provides either free Hostel Accommodation or Hostel Fee on the basis of merit.

  2. D. Devaraja Prathibha Puskar: August to September
  3. Free Hostel Accommodation/ Fee: July to September
