The Giant in the Hydraulics Industry

Their pumps find application in almost every industry where manufacturing is involved. From railway engineering to the paper industry, Bosch Rexroth pumps are an integral part of the manufacturing sector of every industry.

 What are hydraulic pumps?

Hydraulic pumps, including Bosch Rexroth pumps sold by various Bosch Rexroth distributors are devices that convert energy in the mechanical form to hydraulic energy. Hydraulic energy refers to the energy derived by the movement of fluid, generally in a high-pressure environment. Hydraulic pumps are generally classified as positive displacement pumps or non-positive displacement pumps. In the making of a hydraulic system, positive displacement pumps are preferred as the slippage of the fluid is minimal. Non-positive displacement pump is not preferred despite the fact that it produces a continuous fluid flow as it is susceptible to slippage and there is an inherent lack of a sealing system against slippage.

Types of hydraulic pumps

Bosch Rexroth pumps sold by various Bosch Rexroth distributors are of different types. The general types of hydraulic pumps found in the market include external and internal gear pumps, axial piston pumps, gerotor pumps, vane pumps, radial piston pumps and electro-hydraulic pumps. Gear pumps are one of the most commonly preferred pumps as they are easy to service. Piston pumps are used when the entire operation process involves high pressures. Piston pumps are designed so as to withstand high pressures. Vane pumps were originally widely used, however with the advent of gear pumps they have been slowly replaced, though not completely. Bosch Rexroth distributors also make available accessories to go with the hydraulic pumps that make the functioning of the pumps far smoother and help in maximising the efficiency of the pumps. These accessories include replacement seals, mounting flanges, safety valves, brackets and adapters. They make installation of the pumps easier.

The many applications of a hydraulic pump

Hydraulic pumps convert mechanical energy into hydraulic energy and therefore find application in almost every industry that involves a manufacturing process. This includes the industry of transportation technology, war engineering, railway engineering, the automobile industry, the paper industry and any manufacturing process.

They are used in every hydraulic system. The operation of a hydraulic pump can be understood by means of its two mechanical actions. The first mechanical action is intended at creating a vacuum which will then cause atmospheric pressure to act and cause the fluid from the reservoir to move to the pumps. The second mechanical action in the operation of a hydraulic pump causes this fluid to move to the pumps at the outlet and into the hydraulic system. This operation is required specifically where the energy required in high and some very familiar machines relying on hydraulic systems and pumps are cranes, tractors, excavators and mining machines to name a few.
