Last year was the inaugural FDF, and man was that exhilarating. More than 11 Chicago bands from all across the metal range were stuffed into Beat Kitchen. Both local bands and people enjoyed to their fullest over the two crammed nights. Though it was hectic yet was the most historic fest of all time.

Some of the local bands I knew were there but there were some I didn’t. Bands varying in the range of metal genres and subgenres were all present at one place we call home to metal, Chicago. Chicago is fairly popular when it comes to receiving a vigorous amount of local heavy metal. And this festival proved it.

Fest organizer Nick Lawrie shared his thoughts about the festival. He told the festival’s purpose is to bring the local scene together. He wanted to show to the world what this city has to offer. They sure did a great job doing it. The Beat Kitchen was jam-packed and I’m sure it will be this year too. So if you are thinking about going to this awesome festival, don’t just think.
